How do I split an Excel sheet into separate files by a column?
Upload the workbook, enter the header text (e.g. Department) or the column letter (e.g. B) and press Split. Every distinct value in that column becomes its own file, downloaded as a zip.
Can the parts go on separate tabs of one file instead?
Yes. Tick the separate tabs option: each value gets its own tab, named after the value.
Are the header, title and formatting kept?
Yes. The header and any title rows above it appear in every part, with fonts, fills, borders, number formats, column widths and frozen panes copied.
What happens to rows where that column is blank?
They go into a part called (空白 blank), so nothing is lost.
Are formulas kept?
Formulas become their last calculated value: rows move to new positions, so the original references would point at the wrong cells.
I'm sending the parts out. Can I remove author info too?
If you split into tabs, take the result straight to Clean for sharing. If you split into files, unzip them and clean them all at once on that page.
Can Excel do this itself?
You can filter and copy each value by hand, or write a VBA loop. With many values that takes a while; here it's done in one go.
